Janet joined Hunterdon Health in 2014 and rejoined in 2024 where she coordinates the New Jersey Cancer Education and Early Detection grant program to assess and enroll eligible uninsured and underinsured residents in cancer screening services. In addition, she provides community health education and stresses the importance of having annual breast, cervical, colorectal and prostate cancer screenings.
Formerly, Janet worked as a Research Health Educator at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey where she conducted cancer clinical trials education to students, medical and public health professionals and to the general community. Janet has a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, and a master's degree in Public Health with Certifications in Health Management & Policy and Health Education & Promotion from Benedictine University, Lisle, Illinois.
Bilingual in English and Spanish, Janet is also a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), a competency certification presented by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. She is committed to ensuring that health equity practices are embedded and achieved in the cancer prevention program's services.
