At Hunterdon Health, our goal is to provide a safe environment for everyone who comes through our doors. In an effort to increase the safety and security for our patients, visitors and employees, Hunterdon Health will be implementing the following security enhancements at Hunterdon Medical Center.
Weapons Detection System
As of November 10th, when patients, visitors, and employees enter through the main entrance of Hunterdon Medical Center they will be welcomed by a security officer who will direct them to go through a weapons detection system. This technology will help us keep weapons out of our hospital. The system is safe for all visitors, even those who are pregnant, have implanted medical devices or use a mobility device. Most visitors will pass through with no delay. If a weapon is detected, this alerts our security officer to ask the visitor to produce the item. In these cases, the security officer will ask the visitor to take the weapon back to their car or dispose of it in an amnesty box located outside the entrance.
In addition, as of November 10th, the weapon detection system will also be implemented at the entrance to the Emergency Department.
Visitor and Outpatient Management System
As of November 10th, all visitors and outpatients will check in using a visitor management kiosk located in the lobby at Hunterdon Medical Center. The visitor and outpatient will follow the prompts on the screen to determine where they are going in the hospital, which will help us track all who enter and exit the building. A visitor badge identifying their location visit will be printed from the kiosk. Once the badge is printed, the visitor and outpatient will scan the badge, which will open a turnstile to allow further entry into the hospital.
In addition, as of November 10th, this system will be installed to track visitors coming in with patients to the Emergency Department.
Doors that connect Hunterdon Medical Center and Doctors Office Building
In an effort to ensure the safety of our patients, visitors and employees, as of November 10th, the doors that connect Hunterdon Medical Center and the Doctors Office Building will be locked and opened via Hunterdon Health ID badge access only.
All patients and visitors needing to access the hospital will be required to enter through the main entrance to Hunterdon Medical Center. Similarly, all patients and visitors needing to access the Doctors Office Building will need to use the main entrance of the Doctors Office Building (1100 Wescott Drive).
