Kristy Alfano Named President and CEO of Hunterdon Health

Hunterdon Health’s Board of Trustees today announced the appointment of Kristy Alfano, MSN, RN, NE-BC, as President and Chief Executive Officer of Hunterdon Health, effective September 24, 2026.

Alfano, who has served as Hunterdon Health’s Interim President and CEO since July, will continue to lead the health system as the proposed strategic partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health moves forward.

“The Board’s unanimous decision reflects our strong confidence in Kristy’s leadership, deep knowledge of the organization, and ability to guide Hunterdon Health at a pivotal time,” said Hunterdon Health Board Chair Dr. K.C. Rondello. “Kristy has demonstrated that she can lead with both steadiness and vision, and we are grateful for her willingness to take on this responsibility as we continue our efforts to pursue a strategic partnership with Hackensack Meridian Health.”

Alfano has spent much of her career at Hunterdon Health, beginning as a nurse at Hunterdon Medical Center and advancing through a progressive series of leadership roles including Director of the Intermediate Care Unit, Director of Patient Care Experience, Director of the Emergency Department, Assistant Vice President of Clinical Operations, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, and most recently Interim President and CEO.

Alfano holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing with a focus on healthcare administration. She also completed a fellowship through the Advisory Board focused on healthcare.

As a Hunterdon County native, Alfano has deep roots in the community. In addition to raising her two children in Hunterdon County, she was born at Hunterdon Medical Center and continues to reside in the county with her husband, Dan Spencer. Alfano is an alumna of the Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Hunterdon program (inaugural class of 2012) and, in May 2026, was elected as a County Chamber Board member.

As President and CEO, Alfano will continue to work collaboratively with physicians, staff and leaders across Hunterdon Health to advance the organization’s strategic priorities, strengthen the patient experience and position the health system for long-term success.
