The Ornish Lifestyle Medicine has been offered by the Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Department since 2015, treating over 300 patients with heart disease. We proudly share that patient outcomes consistently meet and/or exceed the national benchmark for the program. We are one of only two programs offered in the tri-state area.
As of 2023, the Ornish program at Hunterdon Health has been upgraded and streamlined to better meet the needs of potential participants. The program meets for four (4) hours, twice each week, for 9 weeks (a total of 72 hours of treatment, education, and counseling) to support a healthier lifestyle.
Ornish Lifestyle Medicine is a nationally recognized intensive cardiac rehabilitation program proven to prevent, stop, and even reverse the progression of heart disease. The foundation of Ornish Lifestyle Medicine is the integration of four equally-weighted elements: fitness, nutrition, stress management, and group support. Participants experience the program over the course of 18 four-hour sessions within a small, consistent group, who all have the common goal of reversing their heart disease and improving their well-being. The combined effect of all four lifestyle elements makes a transformative difference.
