Empowering Care: Briteside Adult Day Center Flourishes with Donor Support
Get ready for a fresh start! After a long, unavoidable pause triggered by the pandemic, Briteside Adult Day Center will once again be opening its doors in 2024. And when it does, visitors will be greeted by a crisp, updated look.
Briteside is a destination for fun and healthy activities for adults (55+). They can spend a few hours or the whole day, enjoying meals together, getting active with group exercises, playing games, listening to music, and connecting in ways that promote emotional and physical wellness. For families acting as caretakers, it offers much-needed respite and support as they navigate the challenges of caring for their loved ones. It's a place of life and freedom, rest and connection.
In 2020, during the worldwide precautionary shutdowns, Briteside was also forced to close its doors. During the temporary closure, it became evident that change was necessary before reopening. The outdated interior, worn furniture, and dull surroundings inside the building did not reflect the healthy, positive, and vibrant atmosphere the program is meant to offer.
Hunterdon Health Foundation set out to refresh the building and get the program back on its feet. Thanks to the generosity of two major donors - The Large Foundation, a local family foundation dedicated to promoting community health, and Flemington Department Store - Briteside received a much-needed facelift and is preparing to turn the page on a new era of care.
When the doors swing open and visitors step in, they will immediately notice gorgeous new flooring throughout, donated by Flemington Department Store. Fresh paint will beckon them in, while comfy furniture invites them to stay a while. The pristine look will offer both a comforting haven and a lively social setting that supports the vitality and worth of the people it serves.
Barbara Tofani, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, Assistant Vice President of Outpatient and Ambulatory Services, expressed the importance of the program and gratitude for donor support: "Briteside Adult Day Center is a place where seniors can thrive in a supportive and engaging environment. This center isn't just a facility; it's a community hub where older adults can connect, learn, and enjoy a sense of belonging. We are so grateful to our donors who have given it the fresh look and upgrades it deserves."
