Low-Dose Radiation Therapy (LDRT), now offered at the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, is an alternative treatment that utilizes low doses of radiation to ease pain and enhance joint function in patients with osteoarthritis (OA).
LDRT is recommended for patients with osteoarthritis who:
Have not found relief with other treatments such as physical therapy, oral medications, or injections.
Are interested in eliminating or reducing medication use for OA.
Are looking for a non-surgical option to manage their OA pain.
Are over 40 years old (to minimize any potential long-term risks).
