When you (delivering patient) are admitted to maternity you will be asked to identify your two non-interchangeable primary support persons, 18 years old and over, for your entire stay.
One support person will be identified to receive access to you and your baby.
The additional non-interchangeable support person will be identified to receive access to you.
A certified birth doula (if applicable) will also be allowed access to you.
At any time, upon the request of the patient or staff, the support person(s) will be directed to the Patient/Support Person Waiting Area located outside of Labor and Delivery by the elevators.
The only visitor waiting area for Labor and Delivery is located on the ground floor in the front lobby.
In the event of an emergency, all visitors will be asked to wait in the ground floor lobby until the conclusion of the emergency.
Labor & Delivery Operating Room
When regional anesthesia is being used, one support person is permitted.
When general anesthesia is being used no support person will be permitted in the operating room; one support person will be allowed in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) for a limited period.
Mother/Baby
In addition to the two support person(s)/doula, two additional visitors, 18 years old and older, will be permitted at a time between 10am and 8pm.
Siblings, regardless of age, may visit but must be accompanied by an adult.
One support person may remain overnight.
In the event that your baby is admitted to our Special Care Nursery (SCN) the maternity care team will provide you with additional information about SCN specific visitation.
When your visitors arrive they will be greeted in the lobby and given passes to come see you. When visitors leave they return the pass to the greeter in the lobby. In the situation where you already have two visitors and there are no passes available, the additional visitor(s) will be asked to wait in the lobby until a pass is returned. We encourage you to communicate with your friends and family to coordinate visiting. This will alleviate the need for them to wait in the lobby for an extended period of time and ensure you get your rest and the opportunity for family bonding which is so important.
