The Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, Hunterdon County (FSSP) are stepping up for their neighbors, donating $10,000 to Hunterdon Health to help patients manage two of the biggest hurdles in healthcare: getting to the doctor and paying for prescriptions. This donation is a natural extension of the Friendly Sons’ mission to give back to Hunterdon County through meaningful community outreach.
By forging this new partnership with Hunterdon Health Foundation and Hunterdon Medical Center, the group is making sure their impact is felt exactly where it’s needed most—helping local families navigate the challenges of a medical crisis with dignity and support.
Newly elected FSSP President Mike Montefusco, explained that the organization's core mission is rooted in reaching those who need help the most.
"Our mission to serve the most needy of Hunterdon County aligns directly with that of the Hunterdon Health Foundation and the Medical Center," said Montefusco. "We are proud to partner with the Foundation in support of critical services, providing funding for patient transportation and prescription medication to those most in need. We are delighted with the opportunity the partnership brings to expand our outreach, and we look forward to our ongoing relationship with the Foundation in our mutual service to the community."
This generous gift will go directly toward patient transportation services and medication assistance, serving as a lifeline for low-income, elderly, and chronically ill patients. In a county where getting to an appointment can be a major challenge, this fund covers the cost of taxis or rideshares so patients can get home safely after a hospital stay or make it to vital follow-up visits. By removing the stress of an unaffordable ride or a costly prescription, the Friendly Sons are doing more than just donating money; they are ensuring our most vulnerable neighbors don’t have to skip life-saving care just because they lack a way to get there.
