Hunterdon Health Foundation Receives $10,000 Contribution from NJM Insurance Group
Hunterdon Health Foundation has been awarded $10,000 from NJM Insurance Group in support of two important health programs.
The Group Prenatal Program helps pregnant Latina women and their families in Hunterdon Health’s service area. The program aims to improve access to prenatal care and positive birth outcomes, provide culturally sensitive care, and increase health care between pregnancies for women and children. Women meet in a group and receive medical, informational, and social support. Program data show a significantly higher number of Latinas in Hunterdon County start prenatal care in the first trimester compared to before the program was started.
Funding from NJM Insurance Group will also support the Integrative Medicine program. The program involves training of Residents in our Hunterdon Family Medicine Residency program in Integrative Medicine Modalities and using integrative methods in Hunterdon Health services. Funds will be used for the costs of curriculum, materials, and program development. Modalities covered and used in programming include pain management, nutrition, vitamins, minerals, and common supplements, and mind-body techniques.
